The holiday season is the most competitive advertising window of the year. Every brand fights for attention with louder colours, bigger promotions and more aggressive messaging. Lululemon, a brand built on mindfulness and intentional movement, found itself competing in a space that contradicted everything it stood for. The challenge wasn't just to sell — it was to show up differently in a moment designed to overwhelm.
Holiday advertising shouts. We decided to whisper.
The one thing consumers desperately wanted during the holidays was a moment to breathe. No ad had ever actually given them one. So we built one that did. By harnessing ASMR and meditative visual techniques like gradients and multiple exposures, we turned a standard digital ad into an immersive breathing exercise. The product wasn't just featured in the ad. It was felt through it.
Most holiday campaigns target gift-givers chasing the best deal. Lululemon's audience is different. They are people who have actively chosen to invest in their own wellbeing. But even the most mindful consumer gets swept up in the noise.
We had two sets of audiences:
a) People already living the Lululemon lifestyleThey practise yoga, meditate and actively seek calm. The holidays test their values the most.
b) People who are wellness-curious but not yet converted They feel the stress acutely but haven't found a brand that speaks to that need.
Our Approach
Rather than tell people to breathe, we gave them a reason to. Our ads functioned as a micro-refuge inside the chaos of holiday browsing, with ASMR stillness and layered visuals turning the screen into something meditative.
In a season where every ad adds to the noise, the most radical thing a brand can do is take it away.
